Medals in Edmonton!

Izabella and Wade both got medals at the Edmonton Tournament, which is the absolute coolest venue in the centre of West Ed Mall, with 850 competitors and balconies full of spectators.

Good job, you two!

Provincials Results

On December 2nd in Selkirk, the crew up above went to the MB Provincials. Wade got a gold in the Senior Men -100kg division, and Brody got silver. Ethan got silver medals in both -18 and Senior Men -81kg and Dwight got bronze in Senior Men -81kg.

It’s nice to see both Ethan and the right half of Dwight’s face know how to smile for pictures.

St. Boniface Results

Despite the world’s attempts to cancel the St. B Tournament, several Portage judoka made it out.

Aiden got a participation award, Isabella got bronze, Troy won silver,  Wade bronze, Dwight silver, and Brody silver.

I assume it was super bright in there, or Dwight has some sort of rare light sensitivity thing.

The next tournament is UofM on Dec 2nd. That one’s usually for older competitors.

Brandon and St. Boniface

There was a nice turn out in Shilo for the Brandon Tournament. Brian will have lots to talk to you about when he watches the videos. All I noticed was that we need to set our moves up rather than just rushing in. And if you’re going to blow out you opponent’s leg, you need to follow it up. The blow out is a one-two technique.

Sadly, it’s also important to remember that the folks refffing and working the tables are volunteers, and sometimes you get what you pay for.

Looks like the St. B club has sorted out its location problems, and will be hosting their tournament on Saturday (sorry Wade). You can take a look at their technical package here

Brandon Tournament and Judo Schedule

Howdy all.
First thing’s first.
The Brandon Tournament is on Saturday, October 28th on the CFB Shilo Base.
Here’s a link to the JUDO MB EVENTS CALENDAR so you can see all the details.
For those of you unfamiliar with the base, here’s a map of where you need to go. Building L-25. There’s a couple of parking lots right beside the building.

SHILO MAP

Next up, the Judo schedule gets a little wonky over the next month. Take a look and see, and plan accordingly.

If you have any questions at all, feel free to ask Sensei Brian.
